Lesson 3

5 Interactive products you use the most

  • Laptop
  • Phone
  • Tablet
  • Car
  • Game Boy

Laptop

Interactive features on the laptop that I enjoy the most are the ability to access the internet and search anything you need/want on it, as well as the ability to watch and listen to things on it really easily as you have access to downloadable apps as well as websites. The user experience with the laptop is really enjoyable as it is very simple to use with the maximum output. Computers are now installed with great speakers and high definition screens which allow listening and viewing aspects of the laptop to be enhanced and extremely enjoyable.

Car

The interactive features on my car that I enjoy the most would be the smart, touch-screen screen which allows easy control, and also is installed with ‘apps’ such as navigation, bluetooth, and ‘eco score’ . To access these controls and apps you use the simple and easy to use touch-screen screen and you press the buttons you need to in order to receive the output you’re looking for. Such as if you wanted to get directions to a specific place, you would press on the map, click the plus, click ‘new destination’ and then type in the address that you want to be taken to.

Graphical User Interface (GUI)

An interface which allows users to interact with electronic devices through simple icons and images used as indicators, instead of using more technical and complex text based indicators

A GUI is a system of interactive visual components for computer software. A GUI displays objects that convey information, and represent actions that van be taken by the user. The objects may change colour, size or visibility when the user interacts with them.

GUI Features: Icons, windows, menus, mouse cursors and buttons - these tell the computer what you want it to do. These graphical elements are sometimes enhanced with sounds or visual effects

Other Elements

Design Phase = Pre-production, planning, gathering feedback

Creation Phase = Making the designs

Testing Phase = this covers both technical testing from the team and client/use testing

Commercial consideration = sponsorships and advertising space

Research Task - SEO

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation. Search Engine Optimisation is the process of getting more traffic on your website through either free, organic, editorial or natural search results on search engines such as google. Through this, it aims to improve websites position in search result pages because the higher a website is listed, the more people we see it.

A good SEO involves identifying key words with good search traffic potential, high quality, useful content and then optimising it for certain search engines, relevant links and then measuring the results.

Two types of SEO:

  1. On Page - Optimising content and optimising the technical aspect (HTMK source code, Sohema, Meta tags. You can then use Google Ads, Ahrefs and Semrush to identify the search terms people use the most when searching for topics related to your website. You then need to naturally and organically integrate these terms into your content rather than artificially because otherwise people will notice. Then you need to change the meta content (Meta tags Alt tags and Header tags) so that the search engines can find you.
  2. Off Page - This is about search engine rankings, and it's done outside of the page itself. This is done with the reputable mentions from other websites with techniques such as Backlinks, Social Media marketing, Guest Blogging, Linked/Unlinked brand mentions and influencer marketing.
